The proposed route of the Wray Valley Trail through Bovey Tracey has been agreed.
After years of talks, Bovey Tracey Town Council and Devon County Council have announced the preferred route will be through Mill Marsh Park, by the River Bovey.
And it is hoped to have it open by next summer.
The trail follows the former route of the Newton Abbot to Moretonhampstead railway line.
A number of options – including Monks Way, Bullands Meadow, St John's Lane and Parklands – have all been considered in Bovey Tracey to connect the trail with the old railway line running through Parke, owned by the National Trust.
But the agreed route will enter the town via Marsh Path to Station Road car park, across the zebra crossing and into Mill Marsh Park via a widened entrance.
