TWO Hornbeam, Rowan, Silver Birch and European Wild Cherry trees have be planted in Starcross by a group of volunteers ahead of a tree planting day set for December.

Volunteers from Starcross Action For Trees (SAFT) were out in force on Friday, October 28, planting eight trees at the sports field.

With help from Steve Swift Forestry, who helped clear the area and also collected the eight trees, SAFT volunteers set about planting the trees.

Dubbed the ‘Queens Copse’, the planting came to frution thanks to donations and a council grant.

SAFT, via the groups Facebook page, said: ‘The ‘Queens Copse’ is complete!

‘Many thanks to SAFT volunteers and Steve Swift Forestry for all the hard work and expertise.’

SAFT volunteers were out from 8am planting Hornbeam, European Wild Cherry, Rowan and Silver Birch trees.

The tree planting took place ahead of the groups ‘Tree Day’, which is to be held at the Starcross Pavilion on December 11.
