Angry residents have walked out on a 'sham' workshop arranged by Teignbridge Council and accused the authority of wanting to press ahead with cash-generating developments in the countryside.

Officers arranged two events this week to discuss the idea of thousands of homes at Wolborough and Seale-Hayne as part of the 20-year Core Strategy. But some who took part said the meetings were rubber-stamping exercises.

Cllr Kevin Eales, chairman of Abbotskerswell Parish Council, was among them. 'Representatives of Abbotskerswell Parish Council and Wolborough Residents' Association were keen to participate,' he said.

'Fundamental questions, however, needed to be addressed prior to a workshop.
