AN Abbotskerswell company has applied to Dartmoor National Park Authority to construct a hydroelectric scheme at Huckworthy Mill, Sampford Spiney, though objectors fear it could affect the spawning grounds of the Atlantic salmon and brown and sea trout.
CGP (South West) Limited's application for full planning permission for the scheme using water from the River Walkham, utilising the existing historic leat, goes before the authority's development management committee today.
Officers are recommending approval with half-a-dozen conditions including that the scheme shall not become operational until a fish pass has been built at the intake point at the weir.
