Coins worth up to £500 and which date back to the 1500s have been found at Seale-Hayne, near Newton Abbot.

They were unearthed by metal detectorist Iain Fraser who lives on the estate, owned by the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust.

A keen local historian and member of the Torbay Metal Detecting Club, Mr Fraser obtained permission to search land at the former agricultural college and within two hours had recovered six post-medieval silver hand-struck coins. A couple of days later he found two more nearby.
