WE have been asked to clarify that John Lowry, of Ipplepen, was remanded in custody by magistrates at Torquay to appear at Exeter Crown Court on September 25 on a rape charge.

A court report we carried last week indicated the defendant had been bailed and we apologise for any distress caused.
