THE inquest has been opened on a 62-year-old company director from Kingsteignton who died in Rowcroft Hospice on September 28.
Robert Charles Unstead, who was known as Bob and lived with his wife Tracey at Calvados Park, had been exposed to asbestos during his working life.
Coroner’s officer, Richard Parsons told the inquest that Mr Unstead subsequently became unwell and, in November last year, was diagnosed as having suspected Mesothelioma.
His condition deteriorated and he was admitted to Rowcroft Hospice on September 18, where he remained until he died.
Mr Parsons said the exact cause of death had been ascertained as Malignant Mesothelioma.
The Plymouth, Torbay and South Devon Coroner, Ian Arrow adjourned the inquest to a later date.
