Rendells’ final monthly auction for 2025 on December 11 and 12 saw more than 1500 lots go under the hammer at their Stonepark saleroom
Miscellaneous and collectables always throws up some interesting lots and this auction was no exception. An early 20th Century Oceanic tribal turtle shell mask sold for £280; a Fijian throwing club with carved head and handle made £180 while a vintage tinplate clockwork motorcycle and sidecar toy sold for £160.
A quantity of railway plans and diagrams including British Transport Commission proposed reconstruction of Euston Station by McAlpine and Sons Ltd made a hammer price of £130 and a printer's letterpress drawer cabinets containing book binding letter stamps and stencils sold for £120.
Top price of the day was for a late 19th/early 20th Century Goyard brown leather steamer trunk which achieved a hammer price of £1450.
With gold prices still holding its own, sovereigns sold very well with a 1878 Queen Victoria young head shield back gold sovereign making £680 and a 1911 George V gold sovereign making £650.
Included in this auction was a small selection of Christmas jewellery. An Italian marked 14KT rope twist neck chain with lobster clasp fetched a hammer price of £420 while a Lorrique hallmarked 750 (18ct.) gold 'bubble' ring made £400.
Other notable items includedd a large quantity of Royal Albert bone china tableware decorated in the 'Autumn Roses' pattern which sold for £320 and a pair of early 20th Century Art Nouveau Continental porcelain vases sold for £160. An antique oak slope-fronted bible box fetched £120 and a modern captain's style swivel chair with button back brown leather upholstery sold for £200.
