SHALDON Parish Council has been riven by infighting, one member describing the situation as 'absolute chaos'.

There have been two chairmen in only a few months, and the council is now leaderless.

Two members have quit, after a clash of personalities and behind the scenes rows.

It will mean the number of councillors being reduced to only five, instead of the usual seven.

Hugh Davy, who took over when Cllr Peter Williams stood down as chairman, has now also resigned as chairman and a councillor, and Cllr Derek Yates has announced his intention to leave soon.
