A FARMHAND jailed for the murder of a Buckfastleigh stable girl more than 20 years ago is back in jail having stalked a woman in Cornwall.
Stephen Webber was jailed for life in 1996 for the murder of Jessie Hurlestone at champion jockey Jimmy Frost’s stables.
He bludgeoned her to death, hitting her 30 times with a metal bar at the caravan where she lived in Buckfastleigh in 1995.
After being released from his life sentence, Webber has pleaded guilty to stalking another woman between April and July this year.
In 1996, Webber was found guilty of murder following a trial at Exeter Crown Court.
Although he had admitted manslaughter claiming he was provoked, the jury unanimously found him guilty of murder.
The court had heard that the 39-year-old farm worker had killed Jessie in a fit of jealousy.
He had been obsessed with the 27-year-old stable girl, stalking her for weeks, but when she began dating a man, he attacked her in her caravan with a steel hay hook.
She had been working at the Hawson Court stables owned by Richard Frost, father of Grand National winner Jimmy, for fours years when she was killed.
Webber, now aged 59, has appeared at Truro magistrates court charged with stalking.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10-weeks in prison and given an indefinite restraining order banning him from contacting the victim.
He has now been recalled to jail on his life sentence.
