The Teignmouth Gardening Club's annual spring show at the Carlton Theatre was a huge success on Saturday.
Judges Roy Halsey – an RHS judge, and chairman of Bishopsteignton Garden Club – and his wife Jackie, were impressed with the display of spring bulbs and flowers, pot plants, floral arrangements and photographs, cakes and preserves.
Class first prizes were as follows: spring bulbs in container – Doreen Rogers; vase of cut spring flowers – Janine Adams; cut flower, single stem – Doreen Rogers; pot plant in flower – Doreen Rogers; pot plant, foliage – Janine Adams; cut stem of shrub or tree – Angela Purnell; photograph of spring garden – Frances Dingley; promise of spring – Beryl Hopkins; miniature arrangement – Frances Dingley; preserves – Noreen Mardon; Victoria sponge – Mrs Leamen; fruit cake – Noreen Mardon.
The next meeting of the club will take place at 7.30pm at Bitton House on May 6, when Colin Jones will speak on Fun with Flowers.
