A teenager suffering from a rare form of cancer will be flying to America next week for pioneering treatment that could be her last hope.

Jasmine Flay, 16, who attends Teignmouth Community College and lives in Bishopsteignton, is due to leave for Washington DC with her parents, Angie and Martin.

A hospital has offered to treat her free of charge, but at least £10,000 is needed for air flights, hotel accommodation and general living expenses for at least one of the family to be with her for several months.

A big fundraising campaign, backed by this newspaper group, has already raised thousands of pounds.
