Newton Abbot All Whites' prop Lloyd Radford captained England Students against Portugal U18s in Lisbon.

The Exeter College student came through the ranks at Newton Abbot before spending a couple of seasons with Torquay Colts.

He returned to Rackerhayes this season and has been a regular member of Phil Burford's first team squad.

With the RFU facing cut backs on all fronts, those picked to play for the England Students were asked to contribute £450 towards the costs of the trip.

The All Whites stumped up £250 towards his expenses, with the remaining £200 contributed by Newton Abbot RFC supporter John Fogwill – pictured left with Lloyd – owner of the Pottery Road Garage, Bovey Tracey.

Said All Whites chairman Graham Rooke: 'John and several of his friends are regulars here at Rackerhayes, often attending pre-match lunches and other events.

'When he heard about Lloyd's situation, John had no hesitation in helping him out, a gesture greatly appreciated by both Lloyd and the club.
