THE Newton Abbot and District Cooperative Allotment Association held its annual awards evening at the Keyberry Hotel, Newton Abbot, writes Sam Hall.

This year it ran an additional competition – for the best wildlife photograph taken on an allotment.

Naturalist and BBC film-maker Andrew Cooper went along to judge the photographs.

The standard was high, with the winning photo being taken by Tricia Prowse.

Mr Cooper commented on the clarity of the picture and said he would have been proud to have taken it himself.

The winning photo in the under-14s’ category taken by Joshua Gamage, who snapped a picture of a Jersey Tiger Moth.
