THE Princess Royal visited Chudleigh Knighton on Monday to meet former residents of the Rivendell residential home, Chudleigh.

The princess had opened the facility in 1984 and was back to see how the Hft charity, formerly Home Farm Trust, had changed the way it supports people with learning disabilities.

The organisation closed Rivendell in 2012 and moved 36 people into their own homes.

The visit began with a guided tour of one of the new properties and the princess saw a demonstration of a piece of technology that allows people to record their feelings using a simple picture and word-based touchscreen.
