Children can travel on the South Devon Railway for just £1 during the half term holiday.

The ‘kids for a quid’ week runs from October 20 to 26.

All children aged between three and 15, and accompanied by an adult, will be able to travel between Buckfastleigh and Totnes for £1. Children under three travel free.

Dick Wood, of the railway, said: ‘There’s no need to book ahead, just turn up and pay your £1 at the booking office. The SDR looks forward to welcoming lots of children during half term and helping mums and dads to enjoy with a very affordable day out as they enjoy some of the best views in Devon.’

The railway’s October half-price weekend is also back, with half-price day and round trip tickets on October 27 and 28.

The railway’s blue timetable will be in operation all weekend, with two steam-hauled trains, and a heritage DMU on the 4.30pm from Buckfastleigh and 5.15pm from Totnes.
