DURING the pandemic Libraries Unlimited, a Devon-based charity responsible for running Devon Libraries and Torbay Libraries, refurbished and updated the library at Kingsteignton.

The side porch, however, did not benefit from any of the refurbishments and the open wooden structure was left as is until FOKL stepped in a paid for the space to be renovated.

Kingsteignton Mayor, Cllr Ron Peart, formally opened the porch on Saturday April 23 and it is now a self contained, carpeted and secure area.

The new porch provides an enclosed space for library users to leave pushchairs, bikes and other mobility equipment when visiting the library.

FOKL Secretary, Shirley Hickson, said:’ We’re so pleased and delighted with how the library now looks.

‘It’s taken a while but we’ve achieved it and on behalf of FOKL I would like to thank everyone in the community who have turned up to coffee mornings and bingo sessions and M W Benney who carried out the work.’
