A KITCHEN caught fire in Bovey Tracey yesterday evening, Thursday.

Ashburton Fire Station reports on its Facebook page: ‘This evening we were first on scene to a domestic kitchen fire in Bovey Tracey.

‘Also attending appliances from Newton Abbot Fire Station and Middlemoor Fire Station

On arrival newly qualified IC (incident commander) Hayman asked for two BA (breathing apparatus) to investigate and firefight.

‘Entering the building it was immediately clear the fire was contained to the corner of the kitchen crews set to work using a hose reel jet extinguishing the fire and checking the rest of the property and making the electric safe.

‘Crews then used PPV (positive pressure ventilation) to remove the smoke from the property.

‘After a lovely cup of tea and cake from a local resident we returned to station.’
