Mrs N Hill, of Old Walls Road, Bishopsteignton, writes:

After attending the recent parish council meeting I am embarrased to be a resident of Bishopsteignton.

Two controversial subjects were on the agenda, one being the closure of the doctors' surgery and the other the proposed development at Huntly. Both topics are contentious and everbody is entitled to their own opinion. However there is no excuse for the appalling rudeness displayed by some people at the meeting.

Dr Paul Raby and James Short from NHS Devon, attending to discuss the surgery, and John Sneddon, representing the Huntly planning application, did not interrupt or shout people down when they were making their contribution but were not offered the same courtesy when responding to points raised.

I hope that I am not alone in wishing to apologise to those who gave their time to answer questions at the meeting for the lack of manners and disgusting behaviour displayed by some people.
