AFTER the success of the men's section of Newton Abbot Tennis Club, the ladies proved they could also achieve promotion.

Competition in the Exeter and District league is always strong but the blend of youth and experience proved a winning combination as Newton ladies captured runners-up spot in division five and thereby gained promotion.

The extra training sessions with resident LTA coach Russell Bond have proved beneficial, together with additional club sessions such as the new Saturday afternoon get-togethers.

The winter season is also well under way, with the ladies already chalking up a 5-4 victory over Teign Valley.
