rA SHARED sense of humour and involvement with the church have helped keep a Kingsteignton couple happy for more than 60 years.

Cyril and Margaret Flello celebrated their diamond wedding quietly on Tuesday, having been married at Holy Trinity Church, Buckfastleigh – where Mr Flello had been a choir boy – on January 21 1954.

'The Rev Timms was a very nice man but would slip up sometimes as he loved horse racing and could occasionally forget he had a wedding to do,' recalled Mrs Flello cheerfully.

The couple first met as teenagers in Ashburton and, despite what they described as an 'on-off' courtship, became husband and wife within two years.
