A WORK by famous eccentric artist Robert Lenkiewicz is all set to raise a large chunk of money for a Teignmouth Rotary Club charity. An original pen and ink portrait of his son Reuben when he was six, has been donated by the boy's mother and is for sale by sealed bids.It has been professionally framed free by Picture This, of Waterloo Street, and the cash will go to the ShelterBox appeal, which provides basic survival equipment for the victims of disasters across the world. The picture is hanging in the window of the temporary rotary shop in Wellington Street, where bids can be put through the letterbox, or sent to peter King, 50 Newton Road, Bishopsteignton, TQ14 9PP, by April 3.Lenkiewicz was a larger than life character, as famous for his bizarre lifestyle as his art.He died in 2002 aged 60 and during his colourful life had many lovers, kept an embalmed corpse in his Plymouth home, faked his own demise and offered shelter to the homeless and vagrants. The value of his work has soared in recent times and his partner, who lives locally but does not want to be identified, said: 'I am sure he would have approved of raising money for such a worthwhile charity as ShelterBox.'
