A CHARITY lent lunch for a local Scout group has raised more than £500.

Bishopsteignton Village Hall welcomed large crowds for a lent lunch, where much homemade soup was consumed, as well as cheese and biscuits.

One of the beneficiaries of the charity event was Bishopsteignton's very own Scout group, which is hundreds of pounds better off thanks to the generosity of the village's parishioners.

A spokesman for Bishopsteignton Scout Group said: 'A big thank you to Fran Edwards, Mal Marilyn Worrall and the team who helped with last Friday's Lent Lunch.

'The event raised a brilliant £603 for our Scout Group.

'We are very grateful to everyone who came along to enjoy a lovely lunch and we appreciate all the support we receive from the community.'
