Gareth Sydenham, of Admirals Walk, Teignmouth, writes:
Well done Teignbridge Council, how wonderful you are for taking steps to provide the designs and discussions for a skatepark on Teignmouth sea front.
For many years the teenage youngsters have been crying out for such a facility and this is the perfect location.
However, the council may be seen to be agreeing in principle to this project, but in reality they know it will never happen because they have placed a restrictive stumbling block in its path.
The fact that the youngsters of the town will need to raise the £50,000 - £100,000 needed will ensure the politically unattractive project will never get off the ground.
Youngsters in Dawlish and Newton Abbot have skateparks, they have sports pitches, they have leisure centres and swimming pools, but sorry, Teignmouth teenagers, you have nothing and if you want any leisure facilities you've got to pay for it yourselves.
You mentioned troublemakers in your article last week. Well, if you give these so-called troublemakers available alternative activities they may stop being troublemakers.
So come on Teignbridge, let's spend some of our council tax on our kids.
