Barry Kaye, Press Officer, Newton Abbot Labour Party, writes:
Following on from my colleague Patrick Canavan's comment regarding the Liberal Democrat Party's arrogant boast in their election material, 'Labour cannot win here', letters the MDA April 23rd, they seemingly fail to mention a number of salient and not so palatable facts in the said election material.
For example: the £6,000 Richard Younger-Ross was forced to repay to Parliament, followed by the unpalatable £8,1000 'windfall' gained by means of an eccentric rent deal on his Parliamentary publicly funded London flat, for which I understand he has yet to repay the promised half back to public funds. As a result, his chances of re-election are diminishing daily, as the beneficiary of Lord Ashcroft's largesse, Ann Marie Morris, sharpens her Conservative knife and fork in anticipation of gobbling him up.
Further revelations not included in the Lib Dem election material, make no mention of the controversial £83,000 Parliamentary expenses claim made by Nick Clegg, and the £2.4m Party donation, allegedly donated by a con man from money acquired from his duped investors. The Lib Dems have apparently no qualms in accepting this money, nor do they feel honour bound to repay it.
It is understood that one of the duped investors is proposing to sue the Lib Dems in an effort to recover his money. Should it come to pass, prior to the General Election, it would most certainly upset their electoral applecart.
