A TEIGNBRIDGE library is launching a community larder.

Newton Abbot Library announced the launch yesterday, Tuesday, April 18.

The larder will provide tinned, dried and packet food for anybody to take, with a no questions asked policy.

A spokesman for Newton Abbot Library said: 'We are currently looking for food donations from the public to help build our larder.

'If you have the required items in your cupboards and are looking to donate them, please pop them in the red box in the library foyer.'


What can and what cannot be donated?


► YES: cereal; tinned food; pasta; rice; tea and coffee; biscuits and UHT milk.

► NO: alcohol; fresh fruit and vegetables; freshly baked goods and refrigerated, frozen or handmade goods.
