WHIZZ, whoosh and bang!

Such was the cacophony of

pyrotechnical sound effects

which assailed the ears of night skywatchers

in Denbury this week.

A handsome crowd of about 500

flocked to the village’s school field to

witness slightly premature fireworks

on Tuesday night.

No sooner had the first rocket

been ignited than the heavens

opened to drench the onlookers.

Undeterred they stood their

ground and enjoyed the colourful

and noisy spectacle organised by the

school and its PTA.

Holding the light show a tad earlier

than the traditional November 5

celebrations is thought to have been

a cost-saving exercise which paid

dividends for organisers.
