THE Royal British Legion will soon be racing across the west country after a locomotive was named in the charity's honour by train operator First Great Western.

Lt Gen Sir John Kiszely, the RBL's national president – pictured next to the locomotive – dedicated it at a ceremony in Paddington last week.

Sir John commented that it was an absolute honour to have one named after The Royal British Legion.

'We were delighted when First Great Western approached us with the idea and it is wonderful to see our name on the side of a power car.

'This initiative demonstrates how much support there is for the Armed Forces and recognises the work of the Royal British Legion.

'My hope is that as it passes through stations, towns and the countryside, it will remind people why the Legion exists and the Armed Forces community we are here to help,' he said.

The newly-named loco will cover the south west and Wales.
