RUSH-HOUR traffic was brought to a standstill when a car flipped over on its side after a collision on the approach to the Penn Inn flyover at Newton Abbot this morning.

No one was injured in the accident near the Buckland overbridge on the Newton Abbot-bound carriageway just before 8am.

The incident also caused hour-long hold-ups on the Exeter-bound carriageway. Traffic was running normally by 9.30am in each direction.

A minor shunt was reported at about the same time nearer the flyover. Again, no one was hurt.
