CHILDREN from Chernobyl were treated to a pub lunch in Bovey Tracey during a visit to the area. It was the fifth year running that Highwayman's Haunt owners, Sylvia and David Bowden and Neil and Julie Elliott, have invited children from the charity Chernobyl Children's Life Line to lunch. They were inspired to provide the meal after speaking with the chairman of the Teignbridge and Torquay branch of the charity, Bill Verney. Mrs Bowden said: 'The children liked the meal very much. We like to help charities, especially children's ones, and in this case we got to give something to those less fortunate than ourselves.' The ten children, aged between eight and 12, did not speak English but thanked the pub owners through their interpreter, Tatsiana Sakalova.
