RIDING her bike 100 miles and collecting food donations for foodbank charities has helped earn nine-year-old Teagan Bovey a place in the finals of an international charity pageant.

Teagan, from Newton Abbot, entered the pageant during the first lockdown.

She has won the title of Miss Magical Moments FOEW Princess and gained herself a place at the finals and a trip to Disneyland Paris on November 16.

FOEW is an international charity pageant which supports the NHS and Headway East Kent.

Her mum, Katie, said: ‘Each of the pageant princesses is required to raise money for the above charities and any other charity of their choice.

‘In addition to this it’s great for the girls to give back to their local communities as part of their journey.

‘Teagan and I have been putting together a book to show all the amazing things she has been doing so far which she will be able to show the judging panel on finals night.’

So over the Summer Teagan decided to raise money by completing 100 miles on her bike, a skill she had recently learnt.

Teagan is a very determined young lady.

As her mother explained: ‘She had been trying to learn to ride, then one day she decided to just get on her bike and ride.

‘The next thing we knew she was determined to ride 100 miles in stages to raise funds.

‘She completed this with friends and family and raised more than £250.’

Last week Teagan went out and collected lots of food donations.

On Monday she visited the Homeless In Teignbridge Support (HITS) food bank at Kingsteignton and the Teignbridge Homeless Action Today (THAT) organisation’s foodbank based in Buckland to hand over the donations.

‘We will continue to raise money up until November and Teagan’s godparent, Lisa North, is helping lots with this too which we are so thankful for,’ said Katie.

‘Teagan would also love to be involved in as many local events as we can and is so grateful to everyone who has supporter her so far.

‘We are very aware with COVID events are on hold, but as things open out we would love to be involved more in the community.

Teagan said: ‘I loved completing my bike miles with my friends and I am happy we can help people who have no food.

‘It makes me feel lucky that my mummy gives me so much.
