COMING down with a cold, Jamie Speight believed he was far from his best against big-hitting Albanian Ibrar Riyaz, but Kingsteignton's rising boxing star still had enough in the tank to take victory.

Speight, 22, outpointed Riyaz over four-threes at the Olympiad Leisure Centre, Chippenham, on Saturday, a win which extended his unbeaten professional record to seven bouts.

But talking to the Advertiser since the clash, the former Teign School, Kingsteignton, student explained: 'I was nowhere near as good as I can be.

'I don't know what was wrong with me but I didn't have as much vigour, I wasn't as sharp as I usually am. I felt zapped after the first round, my legs just wouldn't move for a while.
