Water baby Blake Preston, from Bovey Tracey, managed to swim 20 lengths – with a little help – to raise £150 for a new boiler at Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool earlier this month. The two-year-old has been having swimming lessons from his great auntie Pat Ayres since last summer and loves being in the water. 'He really enjoys swimming,' said Blake's mother Lisa Franks. 'He had family members cheering him on. 'He is really confident in the water and we are really proud of him for doing the sponsored swim.' His great auntie Pat has taught many children to swim and founded Bovey Tracey Swimming Club more than 20 years ago. 'My biggest enjoyment is seeing the children swim their first width on their own and smile when they finish their width,' she said. 'Blake is doing really well. At the moment he can do about five strokes on his own and I hope by September 10, when the pool closes for winter, he'll be able to do a width.'
