A 49-year-old man has been charged with rape.

John Lowry, of Luscombe Close Ipplepen, appeared at South Devon Magistrates' Court, Torquay, on Saturday.

He was bailed until September 25 to appear at Exeter Crown Court.

Lowry was arrested in Newton Abbot town centre on Thursday following a police operation involving dozens of officers.
