Police are investigating the circumstances in which a man died after an early morning collision on the A380 near Kingsteignton today (Friday).
Emergency services were called to the the scene on the southbound carriageway near Eagle Farm at 1.45am.
The driver of a Renault Laguna, the only vehicle involved in the incident, had to be cut free by firefighters from Newton Abbot and Teignmouth. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The A380 was closed at Ideford Dip and Ashcombe Cross while emergency services carried out the recovery and began the investigation.
The driver had yet to be identified and his next of kin traced. The road remained closed throughout the rush hour with diversions in place.
