EMERGENCY services were alerted after a man was seen on the roof of a Newton Abbot pub overnight.

Police and paramedics rushed to the Jolly Farmer in Market Street after a figure was seen clambering over the building just after 1am today.

The ambulance crew stood down once the man, local to the town, came down from his hazardous perch.

A police spokesman said officers had spoken to the man and been in touch with health officials about the incident.
