More than 400 people attended an open day organised by Kingsteignton Residents Environmental Awareness Group. The event – at St Michael's Church Hall, Kingsteignton – projected the plans by WBB/Arnold White Estates for the northern option under the Local Development Framework proposals for the village. KREAG member Wendy Sanders said: 'Many of the 400 had strong feelings about the 1,730 houses destined for Kingsteignton. Many see this as a huge over-development and believe the disadvantages outweigh any advantages. 'One thing that came strongly to the fore was anger at the way Teignbridge is wasting taxpayers' money, £800,000 already being spent by December 2005. 'The LDF questgionnairs are so complicated that no-one can understand them unless they are prepared to spend hours at Forde House wading through piles of paperwork.' Mrs Sanders said several commented about health problems, and said how many, especially children, were on inhalers. She said: 'Many of those attending are asthmatic and most maintained they and asthmastic members of their families feel better away from the village.' Mrs Sanders said the biggest worry was flooding, though WBB/AWE claimed this would be a 1-100 probability, she said.
