The organiser of Bovey Tracey Produce Market has stated this week that 'people should use it, or lose it', after a fall in stallholders and customers in recent weeks.

Marion Carpenter, who has organised the fortnightly market for nearly ten years, said that there needs to be an injection of more stallholders and shoppers if it is set to continue.

'It is not supported enough,' said Mrs Carpenter.

'Bovey is a big place, but people who live on the periphery don't seem to use the market and go out of town instead.'

She said another problem is that a minority of stallholders aren't committed and turn up when they feel like it.
