CHUDLEIGH'S new £106,000 play park in Fore Street Park, was officially opened by the town mayor, Cllr Chris Webb on Monday.

'This is a really important site for leisure and recreation. It is right in the town centre and situated next to the primary school. Consequently, the town council was determined that this play park would be the premier play facility in the town,' said Cllr Webb.

The park is owned by Chudleigh United Charities, which works in partnership with the council in providing play facilities there.

CUC chairman Stewart Sapp said the former play park was 15 years old.
