FIREFIGHTERS who tackled the huge blaze at Kingsteignton have been thanked by the mayor and the rest of his town council.

Cllr Dave Rollason, Mayor of Kingsteignton Town Council, was full of praise for the teams that tackled the fire at the old Fairwater Leat Mill (Rydon Springs) in Crosley Moor Road Kingsteignton last Friday.

He said: ‘Kingsteignton Town Council Councillors and staff wish to express sympathy and offer support to those affected by the fire, and to thank Devon and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service who have faced a dangerous job in bringing the fire under control.

‘During the incident Kingsteignton Town Council  contacted the police and Teignbridge District Council to inform them we were available to assist them and our residents.

‘Kingsteignton Community Hall in Rydon Road was made available if required to be used as a temporary daytime shelter. Our town councillors stood ready to help.

‘We are also aware of the many offers of help from members of the community and want to thank residents for their swift and generous offer of support at this time.’
