NEXT Wednesday will see the conclusion of 150th anniversary celebrations at Kate Brook, home of Chudleigh Cricket Club for the past century and a half.

A select MCC squad will travel from across the UK to play in an all-day fixture against Chudleigh which starts at 11.30am. All spectators and cricket fans are invited.

The day will feature a number of guest players who played in the centenary year celebrations against the same opposition in the summer of 1959.

Various dignitaries from the DCB and the DCL have been invited to attend and the day will also feature a special flypast from the Red Arrows at some point during the match.

Chairman of the organising team Richard Lappas said: 'It is a very special day for the club as it marks the end of a long period of planning the events for this year.

'It's a great opportunity for many members to relive the last time they were here, 50 years ago.

'It is also the culmination of some very hard work by the 150 not out team. It's fair to say that overall it has been an outstanding success, with one of the highlights being the Exiles Day when literally hundreds of people came to Kate Brook.'

Lappas added: 'I want to take this opportunity to thank the team for their exceptional input, including Wendy Hardy, Paul Stephens, Mike Trout and Simon Knight.

'They all deserve a big pat on the back for their efforts and what better way to finish off than a day of cricket with the MCC.

'We are very much looking forward to seeing them and they will be very welcome here.'
