Teignmouth artist Michelle Wilcox is celebrating after becoming the first British person to win the CBS 2010 Dichroic By Design Contest in America.

She won the contest, set up by CBS in California, after entering a colourful mosaic guitar, titled Blue Moon, that she created.

CBS manufactures dichroic glass, a specialist art glass that has to be fired in a kiln.

Michelle saw the competition advertised on the webpage of her glass supplier and decided to enter the guitar and another piece of her work, a mosaic picture.

'I have been using dichroic glass for the last eight months as it is lighter and has amazing visual effects and changes colour as you move it around, making it ideal for my work with guitars,' said Michelle.
