A 49-YEAR-OLD man who went missing from Ashburton yesterday has been found, police confirmed this afternoon.

Search teams scoured parts of Dartmoor around Buckfastleigh last night in their quest to find Andrew Distin (pictured). Police said they had been ‘increasingly concerned’ for his welfare.

But today Mr Distin was traced in the Bay and is now being supported by officers and medical professionals.

A police spokesman said: ‘Mr Distin was spotted this morning by a member of the public who called us immediately, and he was soon located by officers in Torquay.

‘This incident highlights how important the public are in helping us locate missing people, and we would like to thank everyone for their continued help and in the sharing of these appeals via social media.’

* And 35-year-old Daniel Dawes from Ivybridge, the source of a major search across Dartmoor over the weekend, has also been found safe and well, police reported this morning.
