Newton Abbot Judo Centre was given a boost when two of its members were awarded black belts on the UBA National Budo course.

Fifteen-year-old Mitchell Osborne gained his junior black belt – the highest possible junior grade – after studying at the club for the past nine years, while club teacher Steven Walter was awarded his 4th dan black belt.

Said Walter: 'I am happy to have gained my promotion and delighted to see Mitchell reap his reward, too.'

The club teaches traditional judo to adults and children from the age of five years at Newton Abbot Leisure Centre on Friday evenings.
