VAMPIRES, Dalmatians, the Lone Ranger and Tonto, a circus and a host of buxom Dollys converged on Moretonhampstead for the annual carnival procession.

The event, on Thursday last week, was a huge success with more than 40 entries, and the procession which began from Chagford Cross, took one-and-a-half-hours to go round the town in a figure of eight.

It was followed by dancing in The Square to the band DfunK.

Tim Hills, chairman of the carnival, was delighted and said it augured well for next year's 90th summer carnival.
