A NEWTON Abbot teenager who suffered bullying at school has secured a place in the semi-finals of Miss Teen Great Britain 2016 for 16-19-year-olds.

Natasha Fox changed from her previous college to the South Devon High School within the South Devon College in Paignton and it had a dramatic effect on her life.

From being reserved and shy, her self-esteem and confidence was bolstered and now the 16-year-old is pressing on with her dream of gaining a doctorate in psychology.

She hopes to become a psychologist to study the causes of mental health issues for teenagers across the world.

Natasha was Newton Abbot Carnival Queen in 2014 and an attendant last year, and decided to enter Miss Teen Great Britain after spotting it on line.

The semi-finalists were chosen from a long questionnaire, and decided by a judging panel.

She hopes to get through to the final which will be held in Blackpool in October.

In December she achieved the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and is already working towards the silver. Between her studies she also fits in voluntary work for the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals charity, and a few hours’ waitressing.

Last year she won the title South Devon College Overall Inspirational Teen across a campus of around 7,000 16-19-year-old students.
