TEIGNBRIDGE SCOUTS AND GUIDES – For the third year running Scout membership in Teignbridge has jumped to record levels, writes John Balment.
The past 12 months has seen numbers rise by 20 per cent, bringing the total to more than 1,300 members.
The assistant district commissioner PR, Steve Michaels, said they were incredibly proud of the membership figures which proved that Scouting today was as popular as ever.
This was not only the result of the amazing amount of hard work of the leaders but a large part was down to the exciting activities now available for Scouts which can include anything from flying planes, race buggies, sail, and giving community help.
Recently two new units have opened in Heathfield and Kenton which are already making inroads in the community.
Increased numbers brings added pressure on the need for more voluntary leaders and helpers and anyone who can help is asked to contact their local Scout leader for details or email [email protected]">[email protected].
