DEVELOPERS have submitted another bid to extend a Kingsteignton care home and say the plans are vital to secure the future of the existing facilities.

The latest scheme is to provide an extra 40 rooms for residents at Penns Mount, Vicarage Hill, by demolishing an existing bungalow to make way for a new wing connected to the main building through a reception and entrance area.

Plans to expand the 22-bed home have been in the pipeline since 2008 but previous applications have been rejected by Teignbridge council planners.

Now developers say the increased provision would 'ensure the long term viability of the current care home on the site' and is 'critical' to the provision of care facilities in the area.
