CHILDREN'S author and illustrator Simon James visited Rydon Primary School, Kingsteignton, for the opening of its new library.

Award-winning Mr James – whose children's book include The Day Jake Vacuumed, Days Like These and George Flies South – spent a day at the school, talking to all the year groups before cutting the ribbon to mark the opening.

Literacy coordinator Sarah Calder said: 'It was fantastic.

'He spent each session with the children talking about his work and how the stories come about.

'He was very funny and very inspiring.
