A NEW guide to Dawlish town centre has been launched ready for the start of the holiday season.
The guide, produced by Dawlish Town Council in conjunction with Teignbridge Council, aims to highlight places of interest for short term visitors to the resort.
Penny Cracknell of Dawlish Town Council has compiled the guide: 'At the moment, people who arrive in the town have not got anything to hand that gives them information on everything in the town.
'The guide points out basic amenities, where the public toilets and bus stops are and where they can go for coffee.'
The guide boasts an aerial photograph of the town which highlights banking and parking facilities along with the beach, bandstand and waterfowl compound.
The pamphlet has been designed so that it can be easily adjusted and updated.
Mrs Cracknell said: 'We did not want the pamphlet to be glossy with a huge amount of cost involved because it may need to be adjusted.
'We have only run a small batch to see if people like it.
'If people may only use the guide for an hour or so, we wanted to make it as cheap as possible.
'It is important that we were not going to create any more litter,' said Mrs Cracknell.
Dawlish Mayor, Cllr Graham Hesse congratulated the new guide:
'It is an excellent layout and we think that both visitors and residents will appreciate it.
'There is a good bit of information about Dawlish and the shops, education facilities and leisure pursuits. It is an excellent companion to the Dawlish footpath guide.'
